Meet Dr Xavier Mulenga
Dr Xavier Mulenga believes mental health care begins with listening. He works from the understanding that behind every diagnosis is a person shaped by culture, community, identity, and lived experience.
Xavier provides care across addiction, ADHD, eating disorders, and mood-related concerns. He has a particular interest in how these experiences show up within African-Australian and migrant communities, where stigma can create barriers to seeking help. His goal is to make psychiatry feel safe, relatable, and accessible.
With a warm and grounded communication style, Xavier partners with patients to understand their challenges and build strategies that genuinely support wellbeing.
Born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia, Xavier moved to Australia in 2004 and completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Griffith University, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Wollongong.
Xavier became a doctor in 2012 and began psychiatry training in 2014, completing his general and addictions qualifications in 2021. He currently works as an Addiction Psychiatrist across several local health districts in New South Wales.
